Vietnamese Flowers in A Year
Collection | 2019
As the interest in botany and the desire to bring people closer to Vietnamese flowers instead of cuisine raises, I decided to make a collection of blossoms in each month during one year.
The process took place about thirteen months, from late 2018 till October 2019.
All was conducted by hand in paper and pencil, sized 15x20cm in originals. I managed to pick the flower which blooms right in the month it shall do in a natural way. However, within selection, I encountered with lots of difficulties in applying and arranging the flower order. There were some favorite floral types, which exceeded my illustration ability and vice versa. Besides, while making research and gathering necessary information, I found out that some flowers can bloom over the whole year and perfectly fit in the months without selected one yet.
Hence, I ended up combining the ones blooming naturally and the ones blooming by agricultural technique, which is quite different from the initial intention. When all drawings were finished, year end was coming close. It motivated me to design a calendar with full of flowers.
