Modular Typefaces

Experiments with Modular Typography
Typography - Print Design - Digital Design 2011
With Typography being integral to good design as imagery is, an exploratory exercise was undertaken whilst at university to see how far we could push lettering and it's form. In doing so, modular type was played with, and the results become something untraditionally modern whilst sketching and experimenting with freeware FontStruct. In condecting experiments, it enabled me to see type in a whole new way.

In experimenting it enabled me to create three new typefaces. Aztec took slight inspiration from the Chichen Itza structure and formed from a combination of circular and angular shapes in the fonts. Minty is a semi-circular and slightly playful design reminiscent in form of several polo mints stuck together. Then finally King Modular combined tradition with modernism as by just using triangles a calligraphy inspired design was created.
