Surrealist Self-portrait

The idea of this project was to create a surrealist photo using a self-portrait. My idea was to create the before of a magazine cover. I took this idea into play to emphasize societal ideas of perfection and beauty, showing emphasized features that have not yet been "blended in." I wanted to include this in the project as to make a statement about the ways society expects things to be. I specifically emphasized certain traits to speak off of recent trends in beauty that have affected my generation. I wanted to turn around a photoshop project and completely deconstruct it going against all the rules of photoshopping a photo. NOT smoothing things out, NOT keeping edits from being obvious, and NOT editing out the imperfections I see in myself. I left in my natural skin underneath the edited features as proof to myself that I may look like a before in my mind but that I am truly a whole and finished project that does not need over emphasized editing.
This is my starting photo, just a good photo I took of myself completely unedited.
Then I added in certain parts of celebrities faces: a nose, an eye, an eyebrow, and a mouth. Along with that I threw in a background and some headlines.
After that I drew some general lines where I thought I might put them.
At this point the entire project was in Photoshop so I exported it into Illustrator and put the lines where I thought they looked good, trying my best to keep them subtle. I did actually end up taking out a caption I did not like as well.
