Hoi - An Vietnam Travel Posters

A3 Scan of my Sketchbook-
This is an artist study on 'Stan Galli', who was an illustrator for travel posters for various American Airlines. I liked his style due to the use of bright yet subtle colour, and the grainy effect of the images. I used him as inspiration for my Vietnam travel posters because I liked his balance of illustration and text, and the overall use of composition which focuses on the iconic landmarks. I looked at him as an artist for my theme of 'Journeys', as he captures the excitement of travel well with his style.
A3 Travel Poster -
Here, I used my lantern photography as a basis for my Hoi-An poster. I used my digital drawing tablet on photoshop to draw the lantern outline and building. I then added colour again using my drawing tablet and added grain over the whole spread to mirror his style.
Second A3 Travel Poster-
Here, I drew a pagoda from another image from my Vietnam trip, scanning it onto photoshop and slightly going over the drawing with a white outline on Photoshop using my drawing tablet. I focused on the white outlines in hand with the white text to reinforce the structure.
