Tate Modern Review
A piece that I like: 'Who Owns What?' 2012 - Barbara Kruger
My main reasons for liking this piece is how striking and attention grabbing it is. Personally, I really like the combination of Black, White and Red for its boldness. The question 'Who Owns What' held by the black and white hand reminds me particularly of the dystopian themes in '1984' where the public are constantly under surveillance.
A piece I don't like: 'Ink Splash II' 2012 - El Anatsui
Although the piece does stand out, I dislike it personally. I can appreciate the work and meaning that's gone into it, but aesthetically it looks tacky with the messy creases and the colours that don't compliment each other. It reminds me of fish scales.

A piece that challenges me: 'Miracle #64' 1975 - Ed Ruscha
I actually really like this piece but to me it poses a lot of questions. I try to incorporate a lot of long exposures in to my work, which I believe is what this is trying to replicate. I just can't figure out a solid meaning behind it or figure what it could mean to me.
