Wearable device for blind marathoner

Run for dream is a project that world-first blind person marathon challenge. Marathoner Dong Ho Han lost his sight when he turned age 20, due to a disease called Leber hereditary optic neuropathy(LHON). He chose marathon to overcome he's depression and fear. To help his challenge, we worked on 'Run for dream' project that helps blind marathoner to run by himself.

런 포 드림은 세계최초의 시각장애인 마라톤 프로젝트입니다. 한동호씨는 20살이 되던 해에 '레버씨 시신경 위축증' 이라는 병으로 인해 시력을 잃게 되었습니다. 그로인한 우울증과 두려움을 극복하기 위해 한동호씨는 마라톤을 선택했고, 저희는 그의 도전을 돕기 위해 시각장애인 마라토너가 혼자서도 달릴 수 있게 해 주는 'Run for dream' 프로젝트를 진행했습니다.

The most important thing was ergonomic issue. since it was device ware on whole body for a long time under extreme conditions, we scanned he's body and convert into 3D data to use for product production. after several times modifications, we created a bodysuit shape that perfectly fits on the body curvature. we also created a custom vest that combine whole products through collaborate with fashion designer

가장 중요했던 점은 인간공학적 문제였습니다. 격한 상황에서 장시간 신체 전반에 착용하는 디바이스였기 때문에, 착용자의 신체를 3D 스캔하여 제작에 사용하였고, 수차례에 걸친 수정 작업을 통해 신체 곡률에 완벽하게 맞는 형태를 구현했습니다. 제품들을 묶어주기 위한 커스텀 조끼는 의상 디자이너와 협업하여 제작했습니다.

In appearance design, we wanted to give him the feeling of wearing sportswear, not a technical device. Since it was an incomplete technology, there were many limitations in hardware. but within the limited circumstances, we pursued the most natural form.

외형 디자인은 기술적인 장치가 아닌 스포츠웨어를 착용한듯한 느낌을 주고싶었습니다.

완성되지 않은 기술이었기 때문에 하드웨어적인 제약이 있었지만, 제한된 상황 내에서 최대한 자연스러운 형태를 추구했습니다.
