Taste for Words is a printed booklet exploring Lexical-Gustatory Synaesthesia—a condition where vivid taste sensations are triggered by hearing or reading certain words. The content is based on the the accounts of James Wannerton, as those who have the condition tend to have quite different experiences.

Often a taste will appear to have no relation to the word that caused it (for example, 'reserve' would evoke the taste of a mars bar) and so I used type and image to portray this peculiar association. I used two grids and two colours to reflect the two sides to the book; the way it would be normally read and how James would perceive the words.
Names of people and places also have unique tastes for James, and often it affects his opinion of them.
Different languages can have their own over-powering tastes, for example, spoken French tastes like egg to James.
