48 hours Showroom Revamp - Competition

48 hours competition by Singapural Design Week
The design brief calls for a "revamp-mation" of the given showroom and its branding under the 48 hours timeline.  The theme of the competition is co-exist. The process involes designing, meeting the owner of the brand, treating it as our own client, ( the proposal ) as well as fabrication.

The Final Product
Conceptualising:
The brand given was Acanthus. Acanthus is a wooden classic furniture brand which has its long history of 18 years being locally made. They are specialise with their materials and craftmanship. Their furniture have been display in the parliament as well as the president's houses because of its lavishness and extravagance.

The initial idea started of with observing how houses, even up to date, still contains classic furniture like Acanthus. We realised that furniture not only define the space, but the time itself which link to the proposal of the co-existance between the classic and contemporary as well as the past and the present. We have selected tunnel as a medium of comminication that suggest linking and bridging. Moreover, the material choice were wooden stick to represent the time frames. The tunnel itself cuts through the plan of the showroom, enveloping itself from the outside to inside and outside again, at times low and sometimes so high that it got lost into the ceiling. These gestures are a symbolic representation of uncertainity and fluctuation as in Acanthus 18th years history being locally made, they have had to gone through various hardship and struggle with the economic cost.

The process
Dream to reality.
