Visual Linguistics
The main goal of this collaborative project is to use visual linguistic strategies in our wordless narrative to successfully convey our given scenario’s sentences. There are a lot of different aspects that played a role in this. The target audience is Afrikaans speaking students that can answer the questionnaire. This also means that the illustrations have to be for a more mature audience.
In my project I was given the following two contexts: Scenario 1 (Universal – Internal – Nonveridical – Nonmodal) and Scenario 2 (External – Corporate) And from these contexts we created suitable sentences and create visual narratives from them.
By analyzing the given examples, I had a better idea of what is expected of my sentences and I also had to keep in mind that they had to be successfully illustrated. The target audience is a more mature audience and I had to keep this in mind when I chose my style. After all this I started scamp my possible ideas to present. The specific audience did not only determine the style but also the color and what tacit knowledge they have that I can use to make sure my illustrations convey the correct sentence.
I tried to refine my illustrations as if it was the final illustration for the pilots to get the most out of it. This insured my final designs success.
