Ballroom Utah Rebrand

I made this for a ballroom dance company. I chose pink and black because those are the two most seen colors in dresses and tuxedos at competitions, as well as the contrast between the white, black and pink looks clean. I put a black bow tie on the male shape to make it clear that this is a tuxedo. I hand drew these shapes and mirrored them to make sure they were even on both sides. I chose to make these specific shapes because as dancers we are fluid and and are able to form designs with our bodies that others may not understand. I also purposely left little imperfections because it feels more personal that way, and I want others to feel that as well.

I placed them in these proxemics because when ballroom dancing you are with a partner. You must be connected and in sync with that partner.I chose to align the black over the pink because in ballroom dancing the male is supposed to be leading the female and it is something the judges are very picky about. I wanted to keep the theme clean and straight forward without having too much detail. I wanted to be sure this is pleasing to look at and easy to remember.
This is the business card I have created for Ballroom Utah Dance Company. I chose to use the fonts, print clearly and cc afterglow because I feel that those represent ballroom the best. The print clearly is simple and elegant while the afterglow is fierce and strong. The two go very well together and they remind me of the two types of styles, standard and latin. I chose the black and pink colors to represent the partnership, usually the women are wearing a dress with pink, purple, or turquoise on it and the men are in black. I chose the background to be a lighter pink because it is attention grabbing and I want people to pay attention to this card. I decided to put the whole logo on the front so people can see the logo first, I then put half of the logo on the back to get people to remember this. I did not want to use my entire logo because I had already done that on the other side and I wanted to be sure that it was not too repetitive. The logo and the company name are the most important parts of this card. In order to make them stand out I used the contrast with the pink and black for the logo and with the company name, I made it the largest object on that side and a different font than the others which are in print clearly.
Next, the letterhead I decided to also use the logo but change the opacity so when written on the writing is visible and clear. I chose to use the same fonts as I have throughout the rest of my design, I used cc afterglow for "Ballroom Utah", and print clearly for the rest of it. CC Afterglow helps things to standout and have emphasis on the text which is what I was wanting to do with the name. I stuck with the same colors, black, white and pink because I wanted to keep that repetition as well as the contrast. Again, the focal point is on the logo, this is so that it stands out and shows who this letterhead is for.
For the envelope I decided using the repetition from the business card of half of the logo would be a professional idea. I changed the opacity for this so that it was not overbearing yet still noticeable. I aligned it in the left hand corner just as I did on the business card and letterhead. I used the same fonts as the others as well, cc afterglow and print clearly, I used these fonts to both continue the pattern as well as make different pieces stand out, such as the "Ballroom Utah Dance Studio". I used the black white and pink for a strong contrast. The focal point is the logo, this is because of the way I positioned it, I decided this was a good idea so that people knew who this was from without having to look at the writing.
This is the twitter profile for my client. I decided to use the logo because people will be able to recognize it when they are searching for Ballroom Utah Dance Studio or any other ballroom studio. I chose these colors on a white surface so that it stands out from other companies and there is a nice contrast. The repetition here is the logo being used just as it is all of my other designs. The focal point is the logo which is why I did not put anything else in there with it, I wanted to be sure that was the first thing people saw.
The twitter header has some fantastic ballroom dancing photos in it. I chose to do multiple because for my other header I have only one photo and I would like to change it up between the two. For this one there are two color images on both sides of the black and white image. The two on the outside are the same dimensions while the one on the inside is larger, I chose this alignment because of the contrast it gives. I also chose three different poses because of the high contrast that it shows. The most important part of this header is that each photo matters, but overall the black and white image is the focal point because it is sleek and professional. As far as proximity, I wanted to be sure that the photos were touching and there was not space between them, I did this because I felt that white space between them would feel uncomfortable and not sit well with people or myself.
The facebook profile is the logo, I chose this for the same reason I chose the twitter profile, I want to make sure people recognize this logo as well as the company it belongs to. I chose the pink, black and white to show the contrast and continue my color pallet as well as my theme. I also made sure that the logo was not touching the edges because that is usually unsettling for people to look at. The repetition is that this is used as my twitter profile as well as on all of the other designs here.
For the facebook header I chose to use this one photo of ballroom dancers feet. I chose this photo because it is a beautiful photo and it is pleasing to look at. There is contrast from the brown floor to the mans shoes and pants, as well as the woman legs, feet, and rhinestoned shoes. I chose to align this photo this way because it is not too close to the edge but still close enough that it fills the entire space. The focal point of this photo is the rhinestone shoes, the sparkle on the top of her heel is the attention grabber and the rest of the rhinestones keep that attention. The repetition is having used real dancers in both of the headers, both twitter and facebook. I feel that this helps people to relate and want to come to Ballroom Utah because they see what they can wear or do if they were to take classes there.
