This project was the outcome of a brief to conceptualize and create a new candy, with a story of it's own, to be introduced in the market.

Up to two-fifths of a crop of fruit or vegetables are wasted just because they are considered “ugly”. Wabisabi is a delicious, healthy candy, made from these fruits - that are just as good on the inside.

Wabisabi means 'the beauty of imperfection' in Japanese.

The story of these outcast fruits, has been translated through the packaging of the box- which features perfect bananas as well as their quirky rejected counterparts.

Banana was taken as the flagship flavour for the project - with the design being translatable to different flavours in the future.

As the candy is eaten, the colourful pattern inside reveals - echoing the idea of beauty being within.
