EDB (Engineering Design Bureau) is a Kazakhstan-based company providing engineering services. The company management regularly searches the market for new technologies and integrates successful ideas into their business. To keep a corporate culture and innovative image in a competitive environment, the company required a new language of visual communication. We were tasked to develop an identity to support the corporate culture and innovative brand image.
BIM technologies are used in the logo as a stylized Latin letter E. This solution brings the modern and technological feature of the brand keeping the font face and graphics in the identity. We used the monochrome version so the sign could be easily adapted to various media and any tasks.
We started to work on the project by searching the company's DNA: we studied technologies, identified the main points of contact with customers. The key EDB's service is Building Information Modeling using BIM technologies. The visual style of the brand was built on a stylized graphic technology to conceptually highlight the key advantage and reflect the company's approach to its work.
Coding the corporate identity with the BIM technology objects allows to differentiate the company's brand. Forms interact with each other in a strict order creating a system-based pattern. The palette includes rich digital colors emphasizing modernity and producibility. As a font base we used grotesque inspired by Bauhaus. It has a pronounced geometry that incorporates with the branded graphics.
It was of our importance to show that employees working in rough conditions of construction processes tend to look modern presenting technological image of their company. At the same time minimalism in details reflects sophisticated functionality and form convenience. The stage of corporate garment development began with the study of styles and design features of garment of well-known brands. Non-marking black was chosen as the base color. The monochrome version of the logo keeps the overall concept.
Special attention should be paid to a spacious and light EDB office with glass partitions. It emphasizes company transparency, creates friendly associations and desire to trust. For branding we used a corporate pattern with vibrant digital colors. Navigation represented by labels allow to zone a workspace and make it easy-to-use for everyone – employees, partners, or office visitors.
