LA NOCHE · Final Degree Project

Creative director, designer and illustrator: Marta de la Vega Lobo
Writter: Eduardo Carretero Suárez

"La Noche" studies the graphic and cultural context that surrounds the world of the asturian mythology and updates its imaginary through editorial design. The project materializes in the form of an illustrated album about the magic night of St. Jhon, where various mythological characters related to the night and the woods are presented through outstanding illustrations and texts.

The main purpose of the project consists in preserve asturian mythology and bring it closer to its target audience formed by young adults.

"La Noche" is designed to be the first album of a collection about asturian mythology called "Colección Cuantayá".
"Colección Cuantayá" is also designed from scratch for this project, as a vehicle to explore the world of this mythology and its creative possibilities. The naming is created through the asturian phrase "cuantayá" which means "A long time ago..." so it talks about the ancient character of these stories. And the logotype is inspired by the sea, an iconic element in asturian culture, that is why it has curve forms and blue tones.

The web design for "La Noche" is used to complete the reader's experience. The web offers detailed information and curiosities about the creatures that appear in the album.

The album was self-edited on June, 2019.

The illustrations of the project were shown in a collective exhibition at "El Bosque de la Maga Colibrí" bookstore during 2019 summer.
