Overview
For my Graphic Design Practicum class, our assignment was to create an annual report for a fictional company. The theme of our report was based on the type of business we took from an envelope. My company ending up being a fireworks distributor. For the assignment, we had to come up with a name for our company and design a complete annual report. My annual report ended up being 7.5 inches by 10 inches.
Cover & Binding
For the cover, I chose to use Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper since I was printing a high quality photograph. I desaturated the image so that the focus of the cover would be on the logo and the coloring of the fireworks. The full size of the cover is 14.25 inches by 10 inches. It is scored so that the right side folds under the cover to become the inside cover page. This can be unfolded to be viewed as one image, as seen below.
For the binding, I used a pink sheet of Ampad Bright Colors 24 lb. paper. I used match-book style binding, however I decided to go a step further and use silver grommets to further strengthen the binding.
Inside Pages
The inside pages of the annual report are printed on Ampad Bright Color (pink, green, and orange) and Ampad Primary Color (yellow and blue) 24 lb. papers. The only color that was printed on the paper was black toner. All the color that you see throughout the document is the color of the paper. The images of the fireworks were all desaturated and changed to white in Photoshop so that they would print correctly on the colored paper.
