A couple of years in the making, the book of Slovak Folktales is finally published! It's a collection of selected tales of wisdom, mayhem and love...and in most cases, love conquered all (but not always). It was a daunting task, because of the richness of cultural heritage that was presented therein, and I wanted to do it justice. So many influences converged in mainland Europe over the centuries, that it's sometimes hard to determine the origins of certain symbols, and therefore harder to choose the way of paint representing them. I'm very happy to share some of the illustrations and impressions with you...it was a long, winding road, but holding the book in my hands makes it all worthwhile :) Published by KUD Sodobnost in Slovenia, 2019.
