Title – Homo Absentia

This series explores moments of solitude from contrasting perspectives. Each diptych pairs a nighttime photograph from Kyiv, Ukraine with a daytime photograph of a demolition site in Berlin, Germany.

When night falls on the city, people leave the normally inhabited public spaces, and they fill with a tangible nothingness. A demolition site under harsh sunlight consists of unnatural mountains of dirt which form desolate, lonely, and uninhabited alien landscapes.

Though the images are distinctly different, they resonate with one another through a shared feeling of solitude.
