FLIPBOOK

The Budapest Giftbook is a flipbook with a series of illustrations about Budapest. This minimalist travel guide gives the illusion of continuous movement by simulating motion when the pages are turned rapidly. Like Budapest itself, the images also form and transform from one page to the next, giving an impressive feel for the vibrancy of the city. The atmospheric, entirely black-and white illustrations display the city in a new, contemporary way, playing with geometric shapes and heavy contrasts.

"Take the city from your pocket and flick it through while re-living memories that only such a vibrant place can offer. Budapest Giftbook is a book and a film, a source of inspiration and a minimalist travel guide, a work of art and a souvenir. The city’s “graphic identity”.

It displays powerfully all that one can love about Budapest. The atmosphere that liberates, new encounters that happen to us with some magical easiness. Ambient streets, historical buildings and busy squares. The Danube, a river that is international to the core, divides as much as it connects the two individual parts: Buda and Pest. Cultural impressions that guarantee you will not be bored. And certainly, the night with its Bohemian world of exciting bars, ruin pubs and excellent restaurants."

"Budapest is a community, created by its residents and guests – locals and travellers –, behaving like a living organism that swings into motion for a sports event, a festival, a concert or an exhibition. Or simply for the nightfall when the lights flare up around and the inner districts reveal their high life profile."

You may live, study in or just visit the city – you will connect to it, and this smooth or paradoxical relationship will certainly be passionate. This city has a character, a special charm that guarantees memories hard to gain in an average European city."
