WARDAH

Warda Al Jazairia was an Algerian singer who was well known for her Egyptian-Arabic songs and music. Warda – "rose" in Arabic, and so referred to as "the Algerian rose" – was the natural successor to the great Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum, one of her teachers, who died in 1975.

Even though she died seven years ago, Warda remains an enduring presence in Arabic pop culture. This project is a contemporary take on her oriental music. The design is a mix between rigid shapes and soft colors that advocate her strength, power and femininity as a woman and a musical icon.
