HIDDEN HEROES

In 1931 William Lyons conceived the SS1, the first model completely developed by the marvelous entrepreneur. The baptism took place in Coventry, later known as the primary home for Jaguar.
The same year, the epic saga of Schneider Trophy (at that time the most important competition in the aeronautic sector), ended with the final success of the British Team. The Supermarine S.6B was the winning machine, designed by Reginald R.Mitchell and produced in two pieces, S1595 and S1596. This racing seaplane, in the hands of Flt Lt John N.Bootham and George Staniforth, established several speed records in September 1931, until it broke the 400 mph wall. After that, the High-Speed Flight team, the special unit supervised by RAF for this project, was dissolved.
The seaplane empire reached its end. The model S1595 found a home in the London Science Museum. But its legacy became immortal. The Supermarine Spitfire, a symbol of freedom and hope during WWII, was largely based on the S.6B, a creation conceived with values such as friendship, sport respect and willingness to go beyond the limits. Time has come to bring back these spirits and their message.

BRITISHNESS AT ITS BEST

Innovators of the unhappened. Dreamers of new worlds. Explorers of the unknown. Jaguar contains in its blood the pure British spirit. From Geoffrey Chaucer to Kenny Everett, from Queen to Queen. Legacy doesn’t mean being stuck in a loop, but being able to reshape messages through the stormy seas of Time. The Electric Revolution will change the automotive industry forever. But this doesn’t imply that 120 years of petrol engines history will be erased. Time has come to pay homage to this technological instrument.
These ingredients are behind the S.6B project. A proposal for Jaguar S.V.O. department. The aim is shaping a messenger able to increase brand awareness, celebrating the 90th anniversary of the first Jaguar and the success of the Schneider Cup.

RAF AND PINEAPPLE: A QUEST FOR BEAUTY

The concept is declined in two models, based on the F-Type Convertible SVR: S1595 and S1596. Both contain direct influences from the original S.6B racing seaplane and its Era, combining them with traditional British fabrics. Pure, polished aluminum dominates the body, with blue accents enhancing the lines. The rear flap presents the dramatic color scheme derived from the Union Jack. Borrani wire wheels give the car style with a pinch of glamour.
However, the interior plays a different game. Textiles need to provide comfort and performance, without forgetting the importance of sustainability. Dark grey Kvadrat waterborn is used instead of leather, while Piñatex is applied as the main inserts of the seats and door panels. There’s also space for the heritage, too. Barathea, the traditional material applied for the RAF uniform, is used in the central armrest and Etaproof (an eco-textile derived from Ventile fabric) is used for the roof mats. Details are given by polished aluminum and metallic yarn.

TRAVEL TO 2021

The S.6B project is expected to be completed by 2021. There’s a huge potential from this operation: in fact, the two models could be guest at renowned events such as Goodwood Festival Of Speed, Concorso di Eleganza Villa D’Este and Chantilly Arts&Elegance. Bespoke accessories could be developed as well. Finally, it would reinforce the S.V.O. as a laboratory where the limit is only posed by the creativity of the designers (and the budget). As we grow we reach for the past.
