PF Flyers were a brand that revolutionized the shoe game. Being the first in that style PF Flyers were seen as new and innovative foot wear. Since this magazine was inspired by the evolution of PF Flyers I chose to name the magazine 'Origins' to reflect on the fact that these were the most original shoe in their class. On the cover I chose to have a classic pair of PF Flyers and made them the center of attention with the article titles around them.

The article I chose to exhibit in this series
of magazine spreads is an article I found from National Geographic. This article talked about how a person's sense of shoe style reflects on his or her personality, status and mood. I titled this article "The Windows to Our Soles". I wanted one single image to be highlighted in this spread. The image I chose was one of a high heel shoe. I placed a window and brick texture to make it seem more like a building. To give emphasis to the shoe a lighting effect was used. This allowed the shoe to be the dominant aspect of this spread. The title was given a blurred effect to add to the whimsical aspect of the spread given from the image.

The third image is the text heavy spread. With the first spread being mostly of an image the second spread needed to show the remainder of the article and be text heavy while still being interesting. I chose to have a fan of vibrant shoes in the left hand corner of the spread. This gave the spread a pop of color and directed your eye to the start of the article. To counter balance the fan of shoes a single shoe was place on the bottom right of spread. This gave the spread some balance of color.
To give attention to new sections of the article I chose to make the titles of the sections a brighter color to give indication that it is a new a section separate from the rest. Also to indicate the beginning of the section a drop caps was inserted to give the separation extra emphasis.
