Opinary is an engaging opinion tool embedded in online newspapers articles or in clients own websites. The Client can tailor the debate around a topic by asking the right questions within the context of an article - catching the user's full attention.
The speedometer tool is one of the most successful format of engagement. The user experience is assured on every device where news are usually consumed.
Engagement formats: slider tool.
By looking at the data about users interactions, we realised a strong tendency for the Slider to get a lot of votes in the middle.
We started mapping out all possible cases and we narrowed them down into two assumptions to be tested:
1) the user cannot understand how to interact with the Slider tool;
2) the user slides by mistake and cannot revert its vote.
To solve problem 1, we came up with different versions of the current slider and A/B tested them.
A) having a verbal explanation how to interact with the slider

To solve problem 2, we decided to add an additional step by adding a confirmation button after the vote
According to the result of the test, the problem of the large amount of votes in the middle is solved by adding a confirmation button. However, this solution makes the number of CTR drop dramatically.
