여행에서 우리가 사진을 찍는 이유는 그 순간을 담아내기 위해서죠. 우리가 찍은 사진은 비단 사진만으로 남지 않습니다. 그곳에 가기 전 부푼 기대감과 설렘, 그곳에서의 아름다운 시간, 여행지의 햇살, 특별한 경험과 소중한 인연 모두가 담겨 소중한 사진이 완성됩니다.

Have you ever remembered your photos?

The reason we take pictures on the trip is to capture that moment. The photos we take are not remain just photos. Before you get there, your precious photos are filled with all the excitement, the beautiful time there, the sunshine of place, your special experience and your precious people.

저의 파리는 이런 수많은 시간들과 장면들이 담겨 기억됐습니다.

한국과는 다른 서늘하다 못해 아린 날씨, 오래된 서적의 향, 조금은 쾨쾨한 지하철 냄새, 풀내음과 석양. 조그마한 뷰파인더로 이러한 장면을 보는 대신 다양한 감정을 담아 사진을 찍게 되었습니다. 비록 제가 찍은 사진에 여러분들의 경험이 직접적으로 담겨있진 않지만, 사진엽서를 보며 갔었던 파리의 감정을 다시금 되새겨 보실 수 있고, 파리를 가본 적이 없더라도, 앞으로 갈 파리의 시간을 미리 경험해 볼 수 있을 것이라 생각합니다.

Paris were remembered with so many times and scenes.

The weather is different. It's a little cold weather, old books, a little smell of subway, grass smell and sunset. Instead of seeing these scenes in a small viewfinder, I took pictures with different emotions. Although my photographs don't directly reflect your experience, I think you will be able to revisit the feelings of Paris that you have seen through postcards, and even if you have never been to Paris, you will be able to experience the time ahead of Paris.

/사진집 구성

한달 간 파리에 머물면서 파리의 시간을 담아본 필름사진으로 엽서를 제작했습니다.

여행 중에 우연히 발견한 오래된 사진엽서(1928‘)에서 영감을 얻어 2019년의 파리를 필름카메라 코니카C35AF(1978’)로 담아보고자 했습니다. 사진면은 필름으로 찍은 사진이며, 뒷면인 엽서면은 오래된 사진엽서지의 디자인을 가져왔습니다.

/Concept

I stayed in Paris for a month and made postcards from film photographs of Paris.

Inspired by an old photo postcard (1928’) that he stumbled on during his trip, he wanted to capture the 2019 Paris with the film camera Konica C35AF (1978’). The photo side is filmed, and the back side of the postcard brings the design of an old photo postcard.

/나의 사진

그 순간을 얼마다 들여다보았을까요.

사진을 찍으면서 가장 와닿았던 말은, 익숙한 곳을 항상 새롭게 바라보는 시각을 가지란 말이었습니다. 가장 좋은 방법은 내가 왔던 시간을 뒤돌아보는 것이었고, 이런 생각은 결국 사진 뿐 아니라 살아가는 방식이 되어버렸습니다. 피사체와의 관계, 사람간의 관계에서 언제나 뒤를 돌아보고 곱씹어봅니다. 어쩌면 ‘미련’이라는 단어로 이러한 습관을 정의할 수 있겠지만, 그 ‘미련’으로 어떤 기억을, 장면을, 추억으로 만들고 파인더로 담아 낼 수 있다면 조금의 ‘미련‘을 가지고 살아도 괜찮지 않을까 생각해봅니다.

/My photos

How much did you look at that moment?

One of the things that came closest to my picture was that I always had a new look at the familiar places. The best way was to look back on the time I came, and this thought eventually became a way of life as well as photography. Always look back and chew on your relationship with your subjects and people. Perhaps you can define these habits with the word “Regret,” but if it is possible to make some memories, scenes, memories and capture them with the finder, it would be okay to live with a little “Regret.”

/필름사진

필름사진은 디지털 사진과는 다르게 많은 시간을 담고 있습니다. 물리적으로 오래되었기도 하지만, 사진을 담는 과정에서 한켜한켜 시간이 쌓입니다. 필름을 감는 시간, 초점을 맞추는 시간, 빛이 필름에 맺히는 시간, 필름을 현상하는 시간, 완성된 필름을 받아보기까지의 시간. 여행을 가놓고도 디지털 사진을 찍지 않았던 이유는 필름에서 느껴지는 ‘시간’이 느껴지지 않아서였습니다.

무수한 겹의 시간을 담은 필름사진은 어딜가나 카메라를 들게 만들었습니다. 카메라를 통해 그들의 온전한 시간을 담는 다는 즐거움에 부풀어 한 장면 한 장면 눌러담으려 셔터를 눌렀습니다.

/Film photography

Film photography takes a lot of time unlike digital photography. Even though it is physically old, time goes by in the process of capturing photos. Time to wind the film, focus time, light to form on the film, time to develop the film, time to receive the finished film. The reason I didn't take digital photos after the trip was because I didn't feel the 'time' felt in the film.

Film photography with countless layers of time has taken me to the camera. I shoot the shutters in order to capture the whole time through the camera so that I could squeeze into each scene.

엽서를 보내본적 있으신가요? 메신저를 통해 빠르게 소식을 접할 수 있지만, 엽서는 우리의 감정과 시간을 고스란히 담고 있습니다. 엽서를 고르기 위해 하나하나 눈으로 확인하고, 고심하고, 지갑을 열어 구매한 당신의 시간은 편지를 받는 분에게도 고스란히 전해집니다. 설령 엽서를 쓰지 않아도, 당신의 아름다운 노력이 담길 작은 그릇은 그 자체만으로도 의미를 갖습니다. 여기에 당신이 한자한자 눌러쓴 문장이 담긴다면 더할나위 없이 좋겠죠

/Postcard

Have you ever sent a postcard? You can get to the news quickly through messengers, but the postcards capture our emotions and time. Every time you check your postcards, try your best, and open your wallet to buy a postcard, your time will be handed over to the recipient. Even if you don't write a postcard, the small bowl that holds your beautiful effort is meaningful by itself. It would be great if it contained a sentence you wrote down.
