Smart Citizen Community
Seoul Digital Foundation which is run by Seoul city holds this event every year in order to gather and support members from the 'Smart Citizen Community'. This community consists of ordinary Seoul citizens who are interested in technology and public issues such as welfare, culture, environment, jobs, and the revival of the local economy. They research and evaluate methods to solve the inconveniences of Seoul city life and to improve the lives of citizens. The foundation provides technology education like Arduino, coding and prototyping. Participants are divided into groups, where they work together to develop a list of tech-based solutions to contemporary issues. These groups present their findings to the city and are sometimes rewarded with government funding to actualize their ideas.

This image illustrates people completing a puzzle that appears to be a combination of an electronic board and map. I was inspired by the idea of people collaborating to find the solution to a complex puzzle. Each of the hands represents a different community member and the idea that in order to complete the puzzle efficiently, the citizens must cooperate. I feel it’s an accurate visualization for the process that the ‘Smart citizen community’ engages in. Each puzzle component is also an Arduino piece. This signifies the skillsets citizens will learn and develop in this community. Finally, I arranged each single piece of the puzzle so that it looks similar to a map of Seoul city.
