Due to the high demand for the residential property in the city centre and the lack of empty plots, available for new construction, this type of renovation projects is very popular in Norway. Also, this way of the city redevelopment is one of the most sustainable because of its minimum impact of construction work and actual improvement of existing apartments by better insulation from the top.
Often, the loft renovations include some additional features for the residents, such as an elevator or thermal-efficient windows, which not only improve the comfort but increase the property value too.
The number of additional apartments after a renovation may vary depends on the existing building area, neighbouring buildings and location.
