The goal for this bedroom was to have all the functionality of a larger bedroom/storage room, but it also had to feel light, open and comfortable.
This was achieved by substituting the traditional bed design with a floating wall-to-wall platform, leaving lots of space underneath for storage, while the space on top remains open. This increases the room's functionality while its perceivable size remains the same.
The size of the platform allows for a queen size mattress, transitioning to a reading/plants corner.
The height of the platform is determined by the outside environment, positioned low enough to maintain the best view out while laying, without sacrificing too much space for storage down below.
The wardrobe is integrated with full-lenght (top to bottom) thin metal frame and polycarbonate doors. The strength of the metal allows for a thin frame, leaving space for larger polycarbonate panels, reflecting as much natural light as possible.
The lighting and mood of the space changes throughout the day due to the reflective/translucent properties of the polycarbonate — shifting from bright in daylight to following the sunset’s tints, which gradually transform into a moody glow by night.
