The Right To Be Unhappy is an animation short film by Nefasto, the artistic collective I co-founded in 2006. It's an adaption of a short graphic novel by celebrated Portuguese artist José Carlos Fernandes, made with a mixed technique of shadow puppetry and stop motion animation.
 
Art directed by Pedro Vaz, with animation and production by Nefasto, The Right to be Unhappy focuses on a perceivable war on social discomfort, hyperbolically told through the story of an hypothetical political action against depression. It was awarded the Grand National Prize at FEST and the Young Portuguese Director Award at CINANIMA, in 2009, and it was selected for screening in the 2010 edition ofFantasporto.
