Transformations, a Kansas City-based youth social and support group for trans and gender non-conforming youth, sent out an RFP last year asking for help designing and maintaining a website. The new website would need to attract new youth to the program, as well as provide resources and information to educate the public.
When my bid was accepted, I worked with my team to facilitate a branding workshop with the youth to take them through the process of branding their own youth group. After a riveting hour or two, we had what we needed to create a masterpiece.
The logo we arrived at was an instant hit with our young clients and the facilitators alike. Through the use of hand-drawn and brush-stroke typeface, and a grunge/spraypaint treatment, we gave homage to the DIY nature of self-discovery and be-yourself vibe of the youth group. The colors used in this version reflect the colors of the Transgender flag, which was an important inclusion to the youth we spoke to.
