The products of 3M are very diverse, from house hold basics to industrial construction material. At the moment, 3M was working and focusing on varieties of films that can be applied on a surface of buildings and structures. 3M's films are characterized by their excellent transparency, functionality and visual beauty. One of the main items in this film category, there are Dichroic films and transparent films which are produced with 3M’s technology. Especially Dichroic film creates wonderful illusions when it interacts with the sunlight. By using these characteristics of 3M films, I designed a chair which shows fantastic illusion and shadow that occur when Dichroic films and transparent films meet with light.

The main point of this chair’s design is that the color of the chair changes due to the point and angle of the view. The structure of the chair is a combination of metal frame and acrylic body. The acrylic part of the chair is designed to show different colors and reflation of the light by cutting off each edges diagonally so that they can form quadrangular pyramids. 3M chair provides exciting and new visual experience to users, and it can be used in both indoors and outdoors. When the chair is used outdoor, it will provide varieties of visual experiences such as colorful shadows and reflations depending on the movement of the sun.
