Web page - Animafest

Animafest is the second oldest film festival in the world completely dedicated to animation. It is an international festival held in Zagreb since 1972 with origins tightly connected to the Zagreb School of Animation and their professors.

During the School’s most prolific period (the 1960s), the style was fairly simple avoiding over–designed characters (as they said “Disney – like”). The emphasis was rather on the animation itself. The sixties were the golden times of the School, winning the Academy Award for the movie “Surogat” by Dušan Vukotić in 1969.

The mentioned, simple style is taken for inspiration of the web page of the Festival as well as the homage to Zagreb School of Animated film and their contributors.

The main element – continuous line, draws (creates) popular animated characters and symbols which were born in School (such as professor Baltazar, Surogat).

By clicking on the other categories on the menu, the screen “travels” on the web revealing new characters. It is also possible to simply explore them by panning the screen (the method used by Google maps).
