Logo Type Rational

I wanted to create a mark for myself that would stand the test of time.
I went the route of using my signature for the basis of the logotype with some embellishments, with the hope of making it unique.

'Kelvin Patterson' became 'K.Patterson' and was further reduced to 'kpatters'. There was, however, nothing that really struck me when I reduced the signature to 'kpatters'.

I decided to play around with merging the 'p' and 'a' into one element. This was particularly interesting to me because - I just love logos with a-symmetry and informal balance. So the 'pa' merger had to be the one dynamic factor.

The next step was deciding on how the logotype to ended. Like the trail of a signature adding a curve with an organically shaped elements at the end made the logotype flow from beginning to end.

Naturally, a lot of time was spent tweaking to get all the elements to seem as if they flowed from one curve into the next, letting your eyes caress up, around, in and out of the logotype.
