Design Brief -

People these days live a very fast paced life, surrounded by constant hustle bustle. Very often, this causes a lot of psychological and mental stress making it essential to take a good and well deserving break.

Le Banc, translation being 'The Bench', is that much needed break that available is within the hustle bustle of a city, but that also blocks out the fast paced life, and gives you your own peaceful bubble. Equipped with solar power charging ports, weather updates, wifi and noise cancelling speakers, it is your very accessible five minute getaway.

 Exploration -

While studying and designing piece of furniture, it is very important to understand the particular piece of furniture and to keep a few things in mind.
Public furniture creates the setting for resting, sitting and eating, and social encounters with others. Such a setting may be of great importance to the elderly, those with limited mobility, adults who have small children, and working adults; but in addition to their functional aspect, items of urban furniture such as benches can also be socially significant, as they give a particular site a comforting and appealing air

Ideation and Form Development -

This generation has seen an increase in the use of technology. Everyone is constantly glued to their phones and their laptops. One is rarely seen without them. The idea was to create a bubble far away from this and city life, but also not too far, because let's face it, everyone needs technology to stay connected.

Final Concept -

Le Banc is a French word meaning the Bench.
Le Banc is an urban bench, designed to create a safer, better, stress free and user friendly environment, while also catering to a very technologically dependent user group. Armed with solar power charging, wifi and noise cancelling speakers, it is your own city getaway, within the city and one's reach.
