Bauhaus New England 2019: 100th anniversary

As part of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, the Goethe-Institut Boston invites the public to explore and (re)discover the art school – which was founded in Weimar in 1919 – a century later in New England.

The design of the flyer is based on the fundamentals of the design theory of Bauhaus, but is quoted and reinterpreted from today's perspective.

Abstraction and functionality are in the foreground here, reflected by a logical communication system, a clear language of form, reduced typography and a colour scheme based on the basic colours of Bauhaus. In the same way that art, craftsmanship and materiality were united in Bauhaus, this flyer is an interplay of illustration, layout and the open, organic feel of the paper - in combination with a sensible use of contemporary machine options (UV dry processing).
