Nombril, the navel is the relic of our former attachement to our mothers while in the womb. This is an inverted bowl & it had inauspicious beginnings. Someone in my studio had started raising this bowl, then lost interest & decided to chuck it into the discard bin. I passed it several times then decided to investigate. Devoid of plans, I just started banging into the center core, reversing it.
That was the start of inspiration, the ripple effect at the top of the bowl. This is not something that happens on a normal "raising" procedure. Deviation from procedure has it's surprises and rewards!
This piece nourishes my creativity, my "Nombril".
The Verdigris enhances the aging process of bronze, it's behavior towards the atmosphere, like the way we evolve in our environment.
