EndoNex - Laparoscopic Surgery Closure Device

Designed by Elyn Wu Caili and Khaw Yee Jek.
The rapid innovation of surgical procedures can only be optimized when proficiency of surgeons and their tools are constantly evolving. Laparoscopic surgery (minimally invasive surgery) presents many benefits in contrast to the conventional open surgery. However, it is plagued with its own issues that make it a highly complex form of surgery that requires long hours of training and practice.

With a focus on designing an effective and efficient laparoscopic surgery closure system, we aim to make improvement to the surgical process by combating one of its most complex procedure.

EndoNex presents an enhanced suturing method with greater control and flexibility in an ergonomic one-handed operation device.

Frontal articulation allows fluid maneuvering, which increases the dexterity and flexibility of the surgeon. The 80 degrees bend and 360 degree rotation bridges anatomical constraints.

This flexible articulation optimizes the workflow by allowing surgeon to work on exact position rather than an approximate position.
Ergonomic inputs allows for a one-handed operation of the EndoNex. Precise frontal articulation becomes at the back of a surgeon’s mind  with a slight push and swivel. The suturing process is kick started with a single squeeze of the handle. The disposal cartridge that contains the suture and needle can also be discharged with a simple button.

For greater comfort and east of use, EndoNex also features a shorter grip span and a broader palm rest. This feature  minimizes trauma and movement at its frontal element by offering greater control of the handle when the surgeon maneuvers the device.

Suturing is less maneuver-centered and becomes hassle-free. With a single squeeze of the handle, a suture loop is formed. The port can be effectively sutured in few actions rather the convention which requires multiple maneuvering and passing of the needle and suture.

Working with mechanism adopted from conventional sewing methods, EndoNex creates suturing loops on the tissue based on the same principles governing conventional suture. This offers assurance with the touch of efficiency.
Having a two-part assembly, with a disposable cartridge holding the needle and suture, EndoNex offers the versatility to work with a variety of reload cartridge to accommodate different tissue thickness.

Flexible Articulation. Ergonomic Handle. Assuring Suturing Method

For surgeons who desire the efficiency, versatility and assurance, EndoNex offers the solution for laparoscopic surgery closure.
