Sail to the end of Iceland
At the end of June I had the opportunity to join the Aurora Arktika on a sail to the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve.
It is the northern end or beginning of Iceland depending on how you see it. Blessed with mostly serene weather we also had one day of a bit rougher ocean shaking our vessel for a couple of hours, but nothing serious.
From time to time we took our small dinghy and went on shore to hike around the majestic fjords and cliffs.
It is a paradise for wildlife, I seriously had rarely seen so much birds before, some arctic foxes hunted and seals observed our boat from a safe distance.
It really felt like a time travel back before humanity.
They are right to say that it is one of the last true wildernesses of Europe.
The great amount of flowers made a beautiful foreground.
