Sonja Hamad's first solo exhibition gathers together the entire series of 26 photographs and accompanying sound installation recording of the fighters' songs in one place.
The photographs were taken between 2015 and 2016 in Northern Syria and Northern Iraq. During this time the photographer - who is herself of Kurdish descent - spent several weeks accompanying those women who had joined the guerrilla fighters and the YPJ, Women’s Protection Units, in their fight for freedom.
