Microscopic Smart horticulture Lighting system 2019

Objective: Design and fabrication of a smart lighting system which follow the growth of plants
Location: Oaesis lsc.
Supervision: Nikolas Papiagannis
Team: Individual

Smart lighting system which follow growth of plants with linear movement (expand and shrink).
Design started with the aim of ability to expand and shrink to take small space in the farm or hydroponics system and costumize distance depending on plant and farmer desire.

The Product started with a sketch of square boxes which enter inside of each other to shrink and expand. In a sequence of bigger to smaller.

Many models and thought were put into 3D modeling using SolidWorks
The design then was developed to become circular tubes in a sequence of small to big.
Minimum space taken was important therefor it was four main tubes to shrink into smaller size as desired.

Prototyping was made with 3D printing using plastic ABS to test functionality, size and concept.
The prototype was tested and placed in the suitable environment.
It was manually expanding and shrinking before the development of the automation method.
The movement was customized specifically for the distance and shrinking we have desired. I have come with the idea of a multistage customised linear actuator to serve our aim with minimum space and ability to shrink.
The Multi stage linear actuator was sketched then 3D modeled.
With the help of CAD/Mechanical designer Nikolas Papagainnis the design was functioning.
The design have developed a lot from the first prototype to the metal Aluminum prototype satisfying costumers better and being economically friendly.
