Throughout Black History Month, Edpuzzle posted in social media a few portraits of some of the most influential African Americans in history.
I felt very lucky to be in charge of the Art Direction and Illustration for this project. Copy by Leah Ganse.

Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. These three women were pioneers in the fields of science, math & engineering, as the first African American women to work as NASA mathematicians. ⠀


With a campaign slogan of “Yes, we can” and a message of hope for the future, Barack Obama became the first African American president in the history of the United States after winning the 2008 election. 



Nina Simone’s unique voice launched her to fame in the world of jazz and blues. She later became a famous civil rights activist, composing protest music based on the plight of African Americans in the United States.⠀




⇡ Director Spike Lee is one of the many African Americans who has shaped the film industry during his more than 30 years in Hollywood, exploring themes like race and politics in the United States.⠀



Oprah Winfrey, one of the world’s most influential people. Her résumé includes being a talk show host, Oscar-nominated actress, philanthropist, and the creator of a national book club, magazine and television network. ⠀
