Briefing: happiness
Problem: lack of self time
Solution: UNDERMIND
UNDERMIND is an independent metro line based on the abandoned stations of Barcelona metro. UNDERMIND is a secret place, where you can just be still and think about your being, it is not a normal type of transport; the destination is not important, the only thing that matters is the experience of a trip to nowhere, a trip to your mind.

As UNDERMIND is a secret place, you can find it only if you are attentive enough, for example if you can notice a strange book between the seats in metro, or if mysterious videos capture your eye. When in UNDERMIND you will find peculiar things as an Existential machine, where instead of snacks or water you can buy Melancholy, Love or Existence Cards. All the wayfinding system is floating, representing our unstable mind.

As UNDERMIND metro can be described as a way down to our mind, I thought that it would be curious if each station had a special, philosophic name. I made a huge research and found some words that do not exist in other languages, that transmit us something to think about.

Eunoia: beautiful thinking, a well mind.
Kairos: the perfect, delicate, crucial moment.
Trouvaille: something lovely discovered by chance.
Saudade: a nostalgic longing to be near again to something or someone that is distant, or that has been loved and then lost, “the love that remains“.
Caim: An invisible circle of protection, drawn around the body with the hand, that reminds you that you are safe and loved, even in the darkest times.

Some objects that you can find in UNDERMIND
In UNDERMIND you can also share your existential thoughts via Lost Thoughts Crossing, using your notebook and a special mailbox. You can also buy some food for your mind - existence, love or melancholy thoughts packed in black envelopes, that are kept in the machine above.
