For my uni project, I was asked to design a poster that promotes the Unexpected Pleasures exhibtion which was held at the Design Museum in London; during the 5th of December 2012 to the 3rd of March.
As for the art direction I was influenced by the quirky Rube Goldberg machines, these types of machines are deliberately over-engineered or overdone machine that performs a very simple task in a very complex fashion, usually including a chain reaction. Therefore I was inspired by this concept to create my own jewellery making machine.
Since many of machine were usually handmade I wanted to screen-print my design to give it a more textural and a blue-print feel to my poster design. I printed different versions using different inks and paper stocks, in the end the most successful outcome was the one printed on black cartridge paper using gold ink.
