This motion project was a collaboration with my dear friend Do Kim.
We wanted to combine our similar image making methodologies in a single medium using a variety of materials to treat letter-forms as physical objects. Our materials mainly consisted of magnifying glasses and lenses to provoke a dynamic collection of footage. We limited ourselves by hand cutting Univers and shooting with our iPhones. We wanted to keep the process simple when creating practical effects. But at the same time, we were focused on challenging ourselves to embrace spontaneous results.
The final motion sequence is a montage of our best results using a process that relied on exhaustive iterations with a combination of vibrant vectors to communicate the three focuses of the MFA program — Motion, Interaction & Visual Communication.
