Hello Kitty is the artwork I exhibited for our Artbeat installation on the first Multimedia Arts Festival.
The artwork is about the economic crisis in the Philippines during the late 1980s. It was the decade where the term Japayuki was coined by Yamatani Tetsuo. The term is referring to Japan-bound foreigners (predominantly young Filipino woman entertainers).
