It is the photographer’s freedom to use these sometimes very short moments of loneliness to achieve the impression of desolation, of a world being quite recently shuttered by the human race that constructed these structures. It’s up to the spectator to decide which are the abandoned places, and which are the short moments where just the cameras' coverage blends out the daily chaos.
Empty spaces and sceneries of seemingly abandoned areas very often still breath the spirit of things already gone, of human existence, that doesn’t seem so far away. My series „LeerRaum“ tries to catch these spirits with captures of empty spaces.

"LeerRaum" is a continuous project that has accompanied me for more than 30 years now. The photographs shown here date from this period of time, whether they are banned on film or digital.
Thank you very much for your attention!
