To be a newcomer means to obtain new information, find new places and people, and by doing so come to learn and understand a new culture and way of life. Our application aims to facilitate these interactions through a unique local guide experience.

My Local Map is a mobile application providing a fully immersive guide of Canada's major cities using geolocation technology, giving users a personalized itinerary of locals’ favourite places, allowing them to be engaged in the cultural and daily customs of Canada. My Local Map believes that by experiencing a new country like a local, newcomers can learn about the culture and habits of the inhabitants in the place they now call home. It offers them the unique opportunity to explore like a local, through auto-guided routes, geolocalization, local reviews, and the ability to translate information into multiple languages. As Canada's population continues to grow as a result of a huge influx of immigration in recent years, it is evident that an application such as this is in great need among newcomers. We believe many problems stem from people of different cultures failing to understand each other. Our mission is to increase intercultural understanding by connecting newcomers to Canada, to authentic local experiences.
