Since its inauguration in Herrsching, Germany in 2007, the ISSS takes place every three years and has already been held in New York, Glasgow and last in Kyoto in 2017.

The logo of the ISSS draws inspiration from patches used by space missions.
Every ISSS will have a new patch as well as an updated logo system.
The next ISSS will take place from 5 to 9 June in New York City, USA at the New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York.
