Annual Report 2019
The Annual Report is a yearly report that highlights the Indiana Department of Revenue's (DOR) culture, accomplishments and programs from the fiscal year. It is presented to the Governor as a status report and also shared widely for customers and stakeholders to review. Several items are required to be included by Indiana statute and DOR takes this opportunity to not only meet those requirements but to tell our story from the previous year. In past years, the Annual Report has been contracted out to an outside graphic designer. However, this year DOR made the decision to do the whole project in house. The entire project was created in Adobe InDesign with photo edits done in Adobe Photoshop.
This report is the backbone of the agency, showing new staff members what DOR is about and promoting programs that DOR has implemented in the past year. It also gives an overview of tax statistics and what each department or division within DOR is accomplishing.
Our constituents both internally and externally utilize this report as a reference guide for all things DOR. It includes overall tax statistics as shown below.

This 70 page document now created entirely in-house, is something that all divisions and departments collaborate on throughout the year to ensure an outstanding product.
The annual report was created to be easy to read and visually appealing for our constituents while also including all statutorily required information (such as the Taxpayer Bill of Rights). It is not only shared with staff but also displayed in all of our customer areas and given to those individuals interested in hearing more of DOR's story. The entire report is published online at https://www.in.gov/dor/3600.htm. Over 2100 views of the annual report have taken place online. We also distribute 200 print copies to various stakeholders and constituents.
The annual report was designed to coincide with DOR's branding guidelines to ensure a cohesive look among all DOR projects. This is something that was not considered in the past. Infographics are scattered throughout the report to highlight high level information. Staff photos played an important role in this design as well as DOR staff is our greatest asset. Photos were edited using Adobe Photoshop. Triangles were chosen for this design to compliment DOR's pyramid of excellence, shown below, that encompasses the essence of DOR.
