I found it in Sinai desert and gathered it being rather uncertain of what it actually was.

All I could see at the time was a dry branch like a closed fist. I kept it in its original condition for years until one day I saw a picture which reminded me of that peculiar object.
“The Rose”. (Rose of Jericho, (Anastatica hierochuntica) also called resurrection plant, known for their ability to survive desiccation. The small gray plant curls its branches and
seedpods inward in the dry season, forming a ball that opens only when moistened.

It can survive for years in that form, though it is sometimes uprooted and blown by the wind like a tumbleweed.

Although dubious of what might occur, I put it in the water and miraculously it started to open making a cracking sound while unfolding. I was utterly amazed at the sight of this
phenomenon. I decided to keep it as it was for quite a while - and I know it is hard to believe - but it genuinely grew leaves!
For my book “The Rose” I have opted for this neverending structure to illustrate the eternal circle of life.
