AMATRICE - ACCUMOLI - ILLICA - ANTRODOCO - LEONESSA

It all began on the night of 24 August 2016 at 03.36.33am with a magnitude 6.0 shock. In the early hours of the morning, dozens of deaths began to be counted even though they were expected dramatic data within the evening. Firefighters, civil protection, forest guards and volunteers immediately mobilized, but the affected areas, poorly connected, made the rescue even more difficult. The earthquake was a little less violent than the earthquake in L'Aquila, although the situation was aggravated by the lack of depth of the earthquake, in fact the hypocenter was just over 4 km deep. The main shock was followed by many other aftershocks, in fact it was thought immediately a seismic swarm. The municipalities closest to the epicenter were Amatrice, Accumuli, Arquata del tronto. These centers were severely damaged, counting 299 victims and over 200 people extracted from the rubble, thanks to the enormous work of the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection who had come from all over Italy. (26 October 2016) A little more than two months after the first event, the earthquake in central Italy became the first news of all the national teams: two strong tremors were recorded between the provinces of Macerata, Perugia and Ascoli Piceno. (October 30th 2016) It was Sunday morning, 7:40 am, just four days after the two events of the 26th, Italy woke up for a very strong earthquake. The new earthquake aggravated the situation of the centers already severely affected by the August earthquake, recording a shock of magnitude 6.5. It was the strongest seismic event from that of Irpinia in 1980. There were no casualties, fortunately, because most of the inhabitants of the affected area had already left their homes following the tremors of 26. The situation was severely aggravated by bad weather: the areas hit by the earthquake found themselves under the snow emergency, blocking all roads.
