Isn’t this rather ephemeral? Of course, my lens housekeeping was out of order, but I found the result made a nice dash to this image.
Something about this knobby stump nestled in leaves caught my attention.
Is this called a brook? Makes one want to slosh up the water path.
The root system of this tree created a damn for the brook.
A rock in a rock pot. The dead algae almost appear to be cloud reflections, albeit brown clouds.
One lone, vibrant leaf sits atop an algae encrusted rock, almost as though it was placed there. No, I did NOT.
In my romantically dour moods, I call this Journey’s End. The pair of walking sticks were unable to aid in overcoming the boulders. And what’s that fern about?
Fractured water makes its way while the algae looks on and the leaves become trapped.
A somewhat wispy stream of water washes down the boulders and rocks while plant life peeps out and over.
Two leaves. One facedown and defeated, the other hanging on until the very end. The tension of the water mirrors the tension of the struggle to stay afloat.
Sprawl. This root system truly caught my attention in its almost alien appearance.
Low hanging juniper berries. I shot this image from above the berries and caught a nice shallow depth of field, making the berries really stand out.
Okay, nature didn’t place the stepping stones but doesn’t it make for an idyllic image? I liked how the stream was so calm before the obstacles and became rough only after it overcame the obstacles.
A tree stair step. I wanted to emphasize the stair structure while having a splash of color as a background, so set my camera to record a very shallow depth of field.
I dunno, sometimes fungus is really pretty. The dark lines on this fan of fungus add a symmetry to the image. The vibrant color brings out the subject. I used a short depth of field to emphasize the fungus.
IIt looks like fairies arranged the fungus for a fabulous, nature-filled table setting. I really like the color contrasts.
Did you notice the rainbow to the left of the waterfall?
I set up my tripod in a cave and shot on bulb, hoping to get images of interesting structures on the cave wall. It was dark in there! Getting back into the light, I was delighted to discover the mesmerizing displays of color.
And more colorful cave wall!
And even more...
