About the project
In December 2017, a unique half-hour-long moving light painting screened by the Danube on several Pest-side façades. For this event – organized jointly by Főváros and BVA (Budapesti Városarculati Nonprofit Kft.) – a light-painted lion will walked along numerous riverfront façades from Margaret Bridge all the way to Liberty Bridge.
You may wonder why a lion will be the star of the night on December 5th; the answer is that Budapest’s heraldic animal is a lion, and the projection aims to presents its symbolic progress. That was the first-ever “walking light painting” here, which is considered unique even on an international scale. The painting projected on Pest-side façades all the way between the Liberty Bridge and Margaret Bridge, and the walking lion was visible from both sides of the river. The great distance enabled viewers of the Buda side to follow the lion’s path longer, but Pest-side viewers get an close-up view of the nearly 20-meter-tall majestic creature, brought to life with cooperating partner LaLuz Visuals.

"Az emberiség kezdetek óta tiszteli az állatok által megszemélyesített archetípusokat. Az oroszlán felfedezhető ősi rítusokban, várost védő erőállatokként, különböző kultúrákhoz kötődő jelképekben, egyetemes szimbólumokká emelve. A vetítés két részből áll, az első részben a Szabadság hídtól az Erzsébeti hídig kísérjük az oroszlánt erejének megszerzése útján. A mozgáson, és anyagok változásán keresztül nyomon követhetjük, miként járja be a fejlődés útját esti főhősünk, hogyan válik egy bizonytalan, kételyekkel teli állat az erő és az igazság szimbólumává. A második részben a Lánchídtól a Margit hídig az oroszlán szimbólumai elevenednek meg, a művészettörténeti és kulturális örökségeit életre hívva." Laluz Visuals
